Conference with Doctor tomorrow...

On Tuesday, we got updated measurements on our latest referral. He is on the charts for weight, height, and head circumference so that's good. With weight being the lowest, of course, due to the poor nutrition in orphanges. We will talk to the international adoption Dr. tomorrow to see what advice she has on this referral. Pray for us, as we decide whether this is the right time to take this big leap of faith!

Slow to get info..

We got a new referral. We do not have as much info on this one. We have 1 picture that was taken in Dec. 06 and alittle info about the child. They are supposed to get us some more info on Monday. Apparently, the info. they can get us varies by region and orphanage. All we know is he turned one on March 27. He is walking with a hand held and saying some sounds. He was born at 34 weeks weighing 5 lbs. The orphanage says he is healthy. We are going to see what additional info they get us, we would like the full medical report. He is in Abakan, in south central siberia, a 5 hour plane flight from Moscow. We aren't willing to travel unless they get us more info. so we'll see what next week brings.
I off to Manhattan Beach, CA with my mom for the weekend! We're staying at Shane's house while he and Dad go on a golf trip to Pebble Beach (a belated 60th bday gift).

Hard decision...

Well, we did not get good news from the Doctor today. Basically, his growth from birth until now is very delayed putting him in high risk category. Based on the Dr's recommendations, we had to decline this referral. It's difficult, but we have to have faith that we will find the child meant to be ours.

International Adoption Doctor

We weren't able to get an appointment for a phone conference with the IA Doctor until next Wednesday at 9Am. That seems like an awful long wait, we are anxious to find out their recommendations so we can begin planning our trip. We're falling in love with him already, he's so cute! We don't want to post a picture here until we know we're going to get him. Pray for us, tough decisions ahead!

Good news!

We got a referral today. Different from the one that we were told about yeasterday. Apparently, they had offered a child to another family and they turned it down b/c he is younger than they wanted. He was born April 5, 2006 and his name in Yan (God's grace). He looks really sweet. We are forwarding the information to Texas Children's International Adoption clinic for review. If we accept this referral we could be traveling in 3-4 weeks! He is in Izhevsk, which is 700 miles from Moscow in a large city. We'll let ya know when we know more.

Referral coming soon....

I talked with our agency today. They are going to send us a referral in the city of Abakan, southeast russia near Mongolia border. Yikes, that sounds far doesn't it. We will hopefully get the picture and medical record within the next week. It is for a 13 month old boy. All for now,

No news yet....

Unfortunately, we havn't gotten another referral yet. We are hoping we'll hear something this week or next. We went to a seminar on adoption that our church had yeasterday. They covered topics such as how to bond/attach with your child and how to talk to them about adoption. It was interesting info, there is so much for us to learn. We'll post as soon as we get our referral.
