Back in Moscow - End of Day 3

After our nap, we went walked to get our lunch. Gavin was a little whiny, but not terrible. He just really loves food and cannot wait to eat when he decides he's ready. We walked around outside again for an hour and eventually found a pharmacy to pick up some Baby Panadol (Russian tylenol) for the teething. The main pharmacy chain here is called "36.6", which is body temp in Celsius. At this point we were on the main drag that leads down to the Red Square, the Kremlin, etc. We snapped a photo from a distance, but plan on going all the way there with him on Wednesday. We also got a photo in front of a McDonald's, which Mom requested. Shannon also picked up some banana's from a street vendor. The best part of the day was when we got back to the hotel lobby. We were walking in and a nice lady stopped us and asked if we would like something to drink or eat, they had champagne, juice and hourderves. It looked like some kind of banquet for a local business and we assumed it was for them, but she insisted it was ok. So, we both had a glass of champagne (kidding, Shannon had juice) and then the best part...the lady asked us if we knew there was a children's room in the hotel. We had no idea...she stopped what she was doing and walked us through several turns down the hallways to a small room. Inside was a room dedicated for playing with all kinds of toys, chalkboard, stuffed animals. She said in her Russian accent, "this is good because when you're in the room too long it can become annoying"...we said "YES, it is annoying!". We watched Gavin play for an hour as we (I) sipped champagne. We said to each other that it felt like the room was heaven, and that the lady who brought us there was an Angel. We will use that room many times the rest of the week. Gavin just went down at 8pm, so we may be back on track. We'll see how long he sleeps. All for now, but got a voicemail from Luda that we are getting picked up at 1:15pm tomorrow to go to the US Embassy. Also, we may just start posting once a day in the evenings from here on out.

The children's room looks awesome, what an "angel" she was to show it to you. Glad you can get out of your room a little more to play there. I know it isn't any fun to be stuck in a hotel room with a toddler!!

I teared up when you described the place like heaven shown to you by an angel. I was flooded with the feeling of relief for you both that you had a place to take Gavin to play! How absolutely WONDERFUL!

Thanks for warning us that you will probably only post once a day now. That way we won't be freaking out.

I love the picture of Gavin with the stuffed animals. That is so adorable. Good luck at the embassy tomorrow. It sounds like everything is working out perfectly. Can't wait for Friday. I'm sure you can't either.

He is more adorable everytime I see his photo.

Wow, so glad you came in contact with that wonderful person who showed you the room, new toys for Gavin to explore. I am sure Gavin thought it was heaven too. I am glad you got out, seeing the vendor stand was fun.
Great Grandpa V printed off the blog, it was 55 pages. He enjoyed reading all of it.

Well, after last week, work caught up w/me (again) and fire walled your blog site. So I'm only able to catch up w/you after work. I agree, with everyone here that the playroom will become your life saver. Gavin's wonderful and I'm sure he thinks you guys are pretty special. However, there is only so much you can take of one person at a given time. Debbie said she loved the picture of Gavin w/the stuffed animals. I had to go back and look again. I missed him the first time. You guys have the start of your own Where's Gavin!

Glad things are better. I also want to say good luck tomorrow.

I showed the pictures to my girlfriend at work. She is pregnant and wants to know where you got your diaper bag. She loves it. I too printed out the blog and I finally stopped the printer because it kept going and going and going. I keep wanting to see more. It didn't seem like there was that much on it. Too funny. Thanks for keeping us so up to date. Maybe now that you are only going to post once a day I'll finally get some work done. I have a rush project going to KC tomorrow. I can't believe they expect me to work instead of reading the blog. I must have the wrong job. You can bet I'll check in with you before I start my work tomorrow. Have a great day today...

Whitney says: I can't believe the stuffed animals are bigger than Gavin! Still I am hoping that you bring him home very soon. I thought that play room was sooooooooooo cool. I wish I could play there. The stuffed animals would probably be as tall as me. I love you. Bye, bye.

I thought I posted earlier but evidently did not publish it. Thank goodness for the goodness in strangers. She must have seen a young couple who could use a little extra TLC. I didn't see Gavin either with the stuffed animals and also had to go back and look. I will be interested to read about your experiences at the US Embassy. I hope that is memorable day for everyone. Hope you are getting a little homesick because we are ready to see all of the All's soon. Love, Mom

I feel your pain. Carter and I lived in a hotel when he was 6 months old in Woodstock, IL. We were there for a few weeks. You feel like everyone can hear him cry and you feel cramped!!! The end is in sight though. You are doing awesome. Just teach him a few more signs:)
