Back in Moscow - End of Day 5

Gavin cried in his sleep off/on around 1:30am, and eventually woke up crying at 3:30am. We put him in our bed where he fell asleep and woke again at 5:00am. At that point we just stayed up. After breakfast and the playroom time he took a 2 & 1/2 hour nap until 11:00am. Luda came by the hotel to drop off some papers we need for the Russian Consulate visit tomorrow. It will be our last hurdle. We fed him lunch in the room, and then Shannon and I ate at the hotel restaurant. It was another sunny, beautiful day here. We decided to walk down to Arbat street. Arbat street is a several block area with restaurants, gift shops and where street vendors are selling their tourist stuff. We had eaten at the Hard Rock Cafe here on the first trip to Russia with Mom. We bartered and bought several more souvenirs, probably too many. Gavin could go all day in a stroller. He loves it. He smiles and waves to people, holds his hands out trying to touch street poles as we walk by. People usually look at him and smile back at him. We headed back and stopped by the grocery store and the pharmacy to pick up milk and diapers in order to make it through the rest of the trip (a 34-pack of diapers will last 3 days right?). We headed back to the hotel and have been hanging out in the room letting Gavin play in his drawer of toys. Shannon just got back from a walk in the hall with him and is getting ready to feed him. By the way, I changed my first dirty diaper today...I almost hurled. My job is normally to do the setup (lay down the towel, get the diaper out, hold his hands and feet back) but today Shannon decided I needed to start...and I think it was his messiest one yet. Tomorrow morning we will go back down to the Red Square area to get the obligatory picture with Gavin in front of St Basil's Cathedral (pictured at the top of the blog site) and any other pics we may have missed with him from his first visit. All for now. Tomorrow evening (morning for KC) will likely be our last post because we will be traveling all day Friday.

I love the pic of Gavin in the highchair! It is my favorite yet!! He is so cute and happy! I absolutely cannot wait to see him in person. So glad you are all doing well. Gavin is trying to get you both accustomed to waking in the night so you are in great practice for his new sister:)). Enjoy your last day tomorrow. What a great experience that you now have a beautiful son and got to see Russia in the process! Have a good flight!!

I loved seeing the three of you and touring Arbat St. Having heard all the stories and seeing all the purchases from Arbat St, you have the best pictures. I really like your shots of the booths. I want to stay at your hotel. It is within walking distance of so many highpoints. The Areostar was further out I believe. Roman and Monty are hiking in the hills so I can't verify that.
I was with your Mother yesterday. We have everything organized for your first few days in KC. Take care and enjoy the private time.

LOL about the diaper change!!!! It is never pleasant, but you sort of become numb to it after a while. You will be an expert in no time:) Just wait until he gets a cold and he is blowing snot everywhere! Love ya!

Sounds like you are taking in the last bits of Russia while you can! It will be great to have you back in the states in a few short days! We want to come and see you over the winter for a quick weekend trip! Graysen will be excited to see the new pictures of you guys when she gets home from school!

The pictures were really interesting. You three seem to be the only ones that do not have coats on, they really do dress warm there. Get those final papers and have a safe flight home. See you in KC.

Ya gotta love that Angela - She just tells it like it is :-) I have to say - I can't believe you are just now changing your first stinky diaper...putting the towel down and holding hands and feet - Pleeeease!
Can't wait to meet Gavin - Have a safe trip home.

I LOVE the polo shirt. That boy sure has some nice clothes. Aaron, just wait until he throws up. I remember the first time Brian did. Rick was at a meeting and I called him and asked him what I should do. He told me to clean it up. Talk about hurling. Ugh. Shannon, I heard from your mother today. She has everything all organized for your return. I'm sure you were worried if she would or not. Ha, ha. You can always count on her for organization. Have a safe trip home. Maybe now I'll get some work done....

I forgot to add, Brian is still hurling. It's just gone from hot dogs to beer. He was up the other morning at 1:30 am shampooing the carpet in his room. I wouldn't let it wait until morning. See, they never change. This is what you have to look forward to. LOL.

I am so looking forward to your arrival at KCI. It's time to get all of you home. I agree the highchair picture is superb. He acts like he is posing like a model baby. Gavin appears relaxed and thoroughly enjoying being with you. I enjoyed seeing Arbat, GUM and our other tourist haunts. I hope Shannon enjoyed the sites more on this trip when she wasn't sick. She was a trooper in June but is now a great Mom. It is a joy to see you all as family. The rest of us can't wait to join in.
Have a safe trip home. I will look forward in the days and weeks to come to hear and see more of your story. In less than 48 hours we will see you and Gavin. Love to the All family. Mom

In case you don't get to see comments after your last Blog, I want you to call when you are in Atlanta. I expect that you will but we're used to daily communication so will want to hear the latest update. Hope everything went well today in your final steps. Love, Mom
