Arrived in Abakan!!
Thankfully our 4 hour flight was smooth. Although I think we were the only ones on the plane that couldn't sleep. Oleg and our new translator, Alya, met us at the airport. Alya teaches English here at the local university. She is a very nice middle aged native Khakassian woman (this is the people that have asian features here). We got checked into the hotel and had breakfast (russian pancakes, meatballs, macaroni, yogurt, porridge, ham & cheese, expresso and tea). Now we have time to rest. They will pick us up at 12:40 to go for our medical exams (required before court). Then we will get to go to the babyhome to see Gavin-we can't wait! We will post later tonight (we're 13 hours ahead of K.C. now).

I am so happy that everything worked out with the last minute paperwork...what a nightmare! Best of luck with everything the next few days will bring. Can't wait to meet Gavin!
Glad your flight was smooth but sorry you didn't get much rest. Try to sneak it in here and there if you can. (Don't need either of you to get sick because you didn't get enough sleep.) I can't imagine the jet lag with the time change and the direction you are traveling. I think it is harder to travel east (rather than west).
Just a tidbit...You will arrive home with Gavin the weekend of the Autumnal Equinox (Sept 23rd, 5:51am) with the earth having equal daylight and night. Do you notice a difference in daylight vs. night from the last time you were there?
Can't wait to hear about your reunion with Gavin. What a wonderful moment it will be! Glad to hear you made it there safely.
It is a little after 10:00 P.M. here in KC. Just read your blog and know you will be seeing Gavin in a few hours. I can't wait to see the updated blog. I will be checking in the early morning hours. I am pleased you saw the Kremlin and had a safe trip to Abakan.I kept thinking about you when I knew you were in the air. Please tell Oleg hello for me. Have you given him his peanut butter gift yet?
